Meet the Fowls
Our Members
In 1989, the Night Owls were founded as the official a cappella group of Bryn Mawr College, a women's college located just outside of Philadelphia in Bryn Mawr, PA. The Night Owls host several concerts each semester and frequently perform at campus-wide events, including many of the College's revered traditions, such as May Day. The Night Owls performed at the inauguration of current president Kim Cassidy in September 2014, just months after the group celebrated its 25th birthday, and we also have been asked to sing parody songs for admissions and traditional college songs at the President's house.
The Night Owls debut new songs every semester that vary in genre from alternative to pop to folk, and all songs are original arrangements by group members. The Night Owls also visit local schools to perform as guest groups and go on tour during fall or spring break. Over the past two years, the group has traveled to Philadelphia, New York City, and Baltimore to perform concerts, and in the group's history, the Night Owls have performed with groups from Princeton University, Brandeis University, Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, and many more. If you are a member of an a cappella group and are interested in scheduling a concert with the Night Owls, either at your school or at Bryn Mawr, please contact our president, Andrea, at [email protected].
In addition to regular concerts and campus performances, the Night Owls set aside time from their busy academic schedules to record songs every semester at a local professional music recording studio. Every few years the group produces a CD, which is then distributed to all Bryn Mawr College students free of charge. The Night Owls' newest CD, "Up Owl Night," contains songs performed by the group over the past few years; all of these songs are now available for streaming and download on our YouTube and SoundCloud pages. Look out for our next CD soon!
